Get the GolfBuddy GB VOICE 3S+. It costs $20 more, lasts longer on a charge, covers more courses, and does something the ULT-G can't: speaks your yardages so you don't have to look at anything. The ULT-G makes sense if you want a wrist-worn device and can live with roughly half the battery life and a proprietary charging cable — but the Voice 3S+ is the better GPS unit.
Both are no-subscription, budget-tier GPS devices with mono LCD displays and button-only navigation. Neither has green views, green contours, hole maps, color display, touchscreen, or smartwatch features of any kind. Both do front/center/back yardages, hazard distances, and manual shot distance measurement. Both are tournament-legal.
The GB VOICE 3S+ is a talking GPS. It reads out your yardages through a small speaker — front, center, back — without you looking at a screen. If you've ever been mid-pre-shot routine and had to glance down at a watch or handheld, you know that small interruption can cost you. The Voice 3S+ removes it entirely. Clip it to your bag strap or belt, press the button, listen. That's the core pitch, and it's a real one.
The ULT-G has no speaker. You check yardages by looking at your wrist, which is the same workflow as every other watch GPS. Nothing wrong with it — it's just not a differentiating feature.
These are different types of devices. The ULT-G is a wristwatch; you wear it the whole round. The Voice 3S+ is a clip-on handheld that detaches from its mount — you can clip it to your bag, your cart, your belt, wherever. Some golfers hate carrying an extra device. Some prefer not wearing anything on their wrist during a swing. Those preferences settle this comparison faster than any spec comparison would.
The Voice 3S+ is rated at 18 hours in GPS mode, which is the longest I've seen from a budget GPS device. The ULT-G's spec isn't published as an hours figure — TecTecTec claims "about 2.5 rounds per charge," which works out to roughly 10-12 hours estimated. The Voice 3S+ has a meaningful edge here. If you play a lot of back-to-back rounds or forget to charge, that gap matters.
The Voice 3S+ has 40,000 preloaded courses; the ULT-G has 38,000. Neither requires a subscription for course updates. The ULT-G's hazard display uses coded abbreviations (RGB = right greenside bunker, etc.), which is a small usability detail — you'll need to learn the shorthand before it's intuitive. The Voice 3S+ lists hazard distances without that layer of decoding. Neither has anything you'd call rich hazard mapping.
The ULT-G has built-in scoring. The Voice 3S+ doesn't. If keeping score on-device matters to you, the ULT-G is the only one that offers it. My read is most people use a phone or paper for scoring anyway, but some golfers genuinely want it on the device.
Both are slightly annoying here, but in different ways. The Voice 3S+ uses micro USB — not USB-C, which is increasingly the only cable anyone has lying around. The ULT-G uses a proprietary charging clip, which is its own kind of problem: lose the clip and you're stuck. If you're traveling, the Voice 3S+'s micro USB is at least a cable type you can borrow. The ULT-G clip is irreplaceable without contacting TecTecTec.

The Voice 3S+ is the better GPS device between these two. It lasts longer, covers more courses, and has a genuinely unique feature — spoken yardages — that changes how you interact with it on course. The ULT-G is a functional budget watch GPS with scoring, and if wrist-worn is your requirement, it's a reasonable choice at $109. But if you're picking the better unit on its merits, the Voice 3S+ wins on battery, usability, and the one thing that makes it worth buying over anything else in this tier.
