The Quick Verdict
Get the Optoma GT2400HDR. It's 1920x1080 against the ZW350ST's 1280x800, it puts up a slightly wider image from the same mounting spot, and Optoma publishes an input-lag figure for it: 16.7 ms at 1080p 60Hz. Optoma doesn't publish one for the ZW350ST. The Optoma ZW350ST is the exception. It lists at $250 less, it has a golf mode Optoma names outright, and it carries a rated laser life. If that trio outranks resolution for your bay, it's the pick. Check price at The Indoor Golf Shop →
What They Have in Common
Same maker and identical published size and weight: 10.79 W x 4.49 H x 8.50 D and 6.61 lbs each. Both are laser, fixed-lens, short-throw projectors with no lens shift and ±15° of keystone horizontally and vertically. Both list 4:3 among their stated modes. Optoma doesn't publish a warranty term for either model.
Where They Differ
Throw and image size
Image width equals throw distance divided by throw ratio. The GT2400HDR's fixed lens is 0.496:1, so from 10 ft back it puts up an image 20.2 ft wide (10 ft ÷ 0.496). The ZW350ST is 0.521:1, which gives 19.2 ft wide from the same 10 ft.
Worked the other way, a 10 ft wide image needs the GT2400HDR 5.0 ft from the screen and the ZW350ST 5.2 ft. Both are short throw by the numbers. Neither has lens shift, so the mounting distance sets the image size with no slack to adjust afterward. The published offsets are 116% ±5% for the GT2400HDR and 115% for the ZW350ST. Measure from where the lens will sit to the screen before you buy either one. A throw ratio of 0.496 or 0.521 is the difference between hanging the projector over the hitting area and hanging it behind you.
Screen shapes
Both list 4:3 among their stated modes, so a 4:3 impact screen is covered on paper. Neither lists 1:1 among its stated modes. That means Optoma doesn't state it, not that the projector can't do it. The native shapes differ. The GT2400HDR is 16:9 native and also lists 16:10. The ZW350ST is 16:10 native and also lists 16:9.
Brightness, lag and golf mode
The GT2400HDR is rated at 4,200 lumens, measured to ISO 21118. The ZW350ST is rated at 3,600 lumens, and Optoma doesn't state the measurement standard for that figure. Since they aren't measured on the same basis, I won't line them up against each other.
The GT2400HDR's input lag is 16.7 ms at 1080p 60Hz. Optoma doesn't publish a lag figure for the ZW350ST, so there's nothing to compare it to.
Golf mode runs the other way. Optoma names a golf picture mode on the ZW350ST. For the GT2400HDR, Optoma doesn't say either way.
Resolution, laser life and price
The GT2400HDR is 1920x1080. The ZW350ST is 1280x800 (WXGA). The ZW350ST's laser is rated for 30,000 hours in normal mode. Optoma doesn't publish a rated life for the GT2400HDR's laser. The GT2400HDR is a 2026 release and the ZW350ST a 2023 one. At list, it's $1,599 for the GT2400HDR against $1,349 for the ZW350ST.
Who Should Buy Which
Get the Optoma GT2400HDR if:
- 1920x1080 native resolution is the spec you're shopping on.
- A published input-lag number is a requirement. It's 16.7 ms at 1080p 60Hz.
- The slightly wider image from a set distance helps: 20.2 ft wide from 10 ft back, or a 10 ft wide image from 5.0 ft.
- You want the brightness figure tied to a named standard (ISO 21118).
Get the Optoma ZW350ST if:
- A golf mode named by the maker is on your list. Optoma names one here.
- A rated laser life matters to you. It's 30,000 hours in normal mode.
- The list price is the deciding figure. It's $1,349, which is $250 under the GT2400HDR at list.
- Your screen is 4:3 or 16:10 and 1280x800 covers what you need. The mount sits at 5.2 ft for a 10 ft wide image.
The Bottom Line
These two share a body, a laser light source, keystone range and a 4:3 mode, so the decision comes down to the spec sheet. The Optoma GT2400HDR has the higher resolution, a published 16.7 ms lag figure and the wider image from the same distance. The ZW350ST counters with a named golf mode, a rated laser life and the lower list price. If I had to bet on which matters more once the bay is built, it's resolution and a published lag number.
