Where They Differ
Size and Trunk Fit
This is the comparison. The Slimfold folds to 32.25 × 8.5 × 13.5 inches. The Nitron Swivel folds to 18.7 × 13 × 22 inches. The Slimfold takes up 2.1 cubic feet folded; the Nitron Swivel takes up 3.1. That's a one-cubic-foot gap in favor of the Slimfold.
But folded volume only tells part of the story. The Slimfold's longest dimension is 32.25 inches — that's the number to measure against your trunk floor before you buy. The Nitron Swivel's longest dimension is 22 inches. If your trunk is short but tall, the Nitron Swivel's shape suits it; if it's long and low, the Slimfold might slide in flat where the Nitron Swivel won't stand up. Check your own trunk. Neither cart publishes open dimensions, so Bag Boy isn't helping you on that end either.
Weight
The Slimfold weighs 15 lbs. The Nitron Swivel weighs 18.5 lbs. That's a 3.5-pound gap. Three and a half pounds is nothing on the fairway and something at the tailgate — twice a round, every round.
Braking and Front Wheel
The Nitron Swivel has a dual rear brake that locks both back wheels, plus a 360° swivel front wheel that can be locked. The Slimfold has a handle-mounted parking brake, and Bag Boy doesn't say whether its front wheel swivels. That's a meaningful gap in the spec sheet, and it's the main reason to look twice at the Nitron Swivel.
What's in the Box
The Slimfold includes a detachable umbrella holder and a large accessory bag. The Nitron Swivel has integrated umbrella storage, but Bag Boy's page doesn't mention an included umbrella holder the way the Nitron's does — so don't count on the holder. The Slimfold also gets you a scorecard console and a drink-and-phone holder. The Nitron Swivel has a deep storage console and a cup holder. Both carts arrive reasonably equipped; the Slimfold's included umbrella holder is the cleaner deal there.
Who Should Buy Which
Get the Bag Boy Slimfold if:
- Your trunk is shallow or shared with another person's gear, and 8.5 inches of depth is a real advantage over 13 inches
- You're lifting the cart in and out solo and 3.5 lbs matters over 18 holes, 40 weeks a year
- You want an umbrella holder already in the box without thinking about it
- The $60 difference means something
Get the Bag Boy Nitron Swivel if:
- You want a brake that locks both rear wheels
- The 360° lockable swivel front wheel matters to you
- Your trunk can take 22 inches standing upright and 13 inches deep, and the Slimfold's 32.25-inch length is the tighter constraint for you
The Bottom Line
The Slimfold is lighter, cheaper at list, and packs flatter. The umbrella holder is in the box. Those three things point the same direction for most people. The Nitron Swivel's dual-wheel brake and lockable swivel front wheel are the real argument for it — not marketing fluff, actual hardware Bag Boy doesn't list on the cheaper cart. If you want that braking setup or the swivel wheel, the $60 upcharge makes sense. Otherwise the Slimfold does the job and takes up less room doing it.
